Fashion in the 1770s
During this period of time, fashion became more important to people. The artistic clothing designs became more intricate and fancy than ever before! Style was defined by elaborate dresses with lots of color and rich in decoration for the women. Often times, the women wore large headdresses and formal hairstyles. The women looked up to iconic fashion figures such as Mary Antoinette of France.
Men in the 1770s wore waistcoats and breeches as they had in the previous decades. The waistcoats, however, did shorten over the course of several years. Many men also wore white wigs that they styled.
